Rackstraw itching for Red Star Raceway

Round 4 of the Extreme Festival is upon us! Red Star Raceway is the next challenge that lies ahead.

The track that features 13 corners is the longest track on the racing calendar spanning over 4km with a variation of tight hairpins coupled with sweeping corners and long straights! Welcome to RSR.

GTC Action

Andrew Rackstraw is well and truly shining in his first ever year in GTC. He’s been a great addition to an already star studded grid.

With Red Star Raceway next up on the cards, he will be keen to put his experience from past events together. The improvements in both the car and driver have been very noticeable. The RDSA man has enjoyed his steep learning curve in 2022 and at the same time has built some really strong bonds with his WCT team who have done their best to provide Rackstraw with a top quality racing machine.

The Audi S3 is one of the first GTC cars ever produced locally and has had a few gremlins this year, however, the team and driver have confidence that most of the issues have been ironed out. The car still is a good 75kg overweight but there is a hope that the new BOP that was introduced in PE will take its effect in Delmas for Round 5.

The setup and handling of the car are crucial at a circuit like Red Star so the team will be eager to get Rackstraw’s feedback after that first practice session so they can tweak the race package. After that, it will be up to the driver to make the most of the car beneath him.

The Cape Town born driver is still just a rookie but has already made his mark with a podium finish and showed his skills as a natural with his wheel-to-wheel racing against some of the top drivers in the country.

With the progressive path that he is on, he could very well snatch up a podium finish in Red Star. A highlight will surely be the reverse grid race in Race 2. If things don’t go to plan in Race 1 for Rackstraw then he could find himself starting on the front row for Race 2. He has learnt to get his elbows out this year so watch out for a stellar race in which he could very well take a win.

“I’m really excited for this weekend! Not only will I be racing in GTC but I will be going back to my roots and racing a single seater again! In the formula Ford Kent class, which will help me to prepare for my next overseas outing to England! It will be a very packed weekend with lots of racing but I am more prepared than ever! Bring it on, and I look forward to seeing everyone there.” says Andrew.
