Untouchable Rackstraw Makes It Six From Six

Andrew Rackstraw continued his dominance in round three of the 2021 Investchem South African Formula 1600 Championship as he powered his way to another overall win this past weekend.

The Cape Town youngster masterfully drove to complete a perfect race weekend in Saturday’s Extreme Festival National which took place at the Aldo Scribante track in the windy city of Port Elizabeth.

Andrew arrived ready for the challenge on Friday and his preparation for race weekend definitely paid off as he was quickest in two out of the three sessions. Coming into the weekend the team fitted new brake disks and pads allowing Andrew to have that extra bit of confidence in his car.

He certainly made good on the improved stopping ability and was able to push his car to yet another pole position on Saturday morning leaving him with a clear track for the start of race 1.

With every intention to keep his unobscured track view intact, bar the odd obstruction from the cars in the slower Kent class, he blitzed out a lights-to-flag victory. He was able to fend off some stiff competition from behind while putting on a masterclass. Rackstraw was the only driver to break into the 1:01’s and handsomely now has the new F1600 lap record, a blisteringly quick 1.01.904, to his name.

Race 2 saw him take the lead early on and he never looked back. Again setting the pace alight and stamping his claim on the championship. His second victory on the day means he has now won 6 out of 6 races in the season so far.

A 100% win rate in what is turning out to be a dream season for the young man, Rackstraw took the time to acknowledge those around him post his on track performance.

“It was an absolutely amazing weekend, full house of points and a new lap record! Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. Have to say a massive thanks to RDSA and Investchem for their continuous support and help. Nothing would be possible without them”.

Rackstraw will keep on pushing and trying to bag as many points as he can, as he continues his pursuit for his first National title in 2021. On to East London for the next round, with the likelihood of a few action packed kart races and some high speed action in his RDSA Formula VW in-between.
